• This airline operates 40 planes, mostly old (average age 15 years), a mix of Airbus, Boeing 737's and turbo-props
• Flies more or less everywhere from Greece - domestic Greek routes, Africa, Asia, the Middle East and North America, as well as destinations across Europe
• In financial crisis for years and dependent on state subsidies, it resembles in these respects a smaller version of Alitalia
• The Greek government has tried to sell this airline, but the EU decided that it had benefited from illegal subsidies and the effort fell through - currently due for another reorganisation in 2007
• Source of some of the worst airline customer service stories we've ever heard, including one from a 'survivor of an Olympic flight from Athens to Greece' - "I'm still waiting for my coffee".
